We are still missing quite a few Parent Survey Forms. If you have not turned in your form, please do so by this Friday, January 30th to your child's building secretary or at the Administration office. These form are needed to qualify for the Impact Aid 7003 grant used for a variety of needs throughout the district. Please help us to qualify for this grant. If you have any questions, you can contact our Administration office at 605.745.4145.
This letter was sent home with students. Impact Aid funding is very important to the Hot Spring School District. The funding is used for many general fund expenditures such as expanding our preschool program and/or bus routes and building improvements. If you work and/or live on Federal Property, this paperwork will help increase the total amount of Impact Aid that the school district receives. Some examples of Federal organizations that would qualify would be the Veterans Home, Veterans Affairs, Forest Service, National Grassland, Wind Cave, Angostora Dam, Indian Health, Pine Ridge Hospital, Pine Ridge Reservation, Prairie Wind Casino. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Wendy Bilbruck or Kyley Cumbow at the Central Admin Office. These forms can also be scanned and emailed to wendy.bilbruck@k12.sd.us or kyley.cumbow@k12.sd.us Link to the form: https://aptg.co/fkzzk-
On February 11th, Hot Springs 11th graders will take a mock ACT test. The South Dakota Department of Education has made the ACT the official state test for all juniors. In previous years, all South Dakota 11th graders took the Smarter Balance test, which is the same test 3rd-8th graders took. Due to this change, we want to best prepare our 11th graders and our school for success. Our hope is that the mock test will help our students have a better sense of the type of questions they will face and have a better sense of the amount of time each section of the test will last. The data and information we gather from this mock exam will help us make any necessary adjustments before the actual ACT exam, which will take place in March.

The next phase of the Elementary Playground has officially broken ground. The Hot Springs School District once again would like to thank all of those that contributed to this fundraiser and donations for this project. It's going to be great!

Here are a few updates from the Department of Labor and Regulation to help kick off the new year. 😊
January Calendar- https://aptg.co/yV3_sM
The January Calendar highlights events taking place across the state on college campuses, as well as career exploration opportunities for middle and high school students. While we do our best to keep this information current, event dates are subject to change.

This year parents, students, and community members can upload pictures that they feel could enhance our yearbook. The community has taken many pictures and events and activities, and these could help create an amazing yearbook. All pictures will be properly vetted for appropriateness prior to use.
Did you take pictures at any Hot Springs Bison activities or events? Would these images enhance our yearbook? Please share, and the yearbook club may choose your pics to include in the 2025/2026 Yearbook. GO BISON!!
