Do you ever wonder what impact phones have on our children? Jonathan Haidt, a researcher from New York University, shares trends on what he has found with educators. The video is an hour long, but it gives important information. As a school community, we can use it to guide conversations and decision on how to best help our students. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1MDQChO9Xg
Looking for those high schoolers that are curious to whether entering the teaching profession would be right for them. We hope to provide an opportunity to these students starting second semester. Stay tuned for more information about Educators Rising Chapters.

A couple reminders. Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences are tonight and tomorrow morning. You should have received an email reminder for when you scheduled your conference(s). If you did not or have not scheduled one yet, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher. The Scholastic Book Fair is set up and ready too.
Also a reminder of the community event tomorrow morning from 10-12 in the Bison Center.

Hot Springs Veterans Day Program.
Good morning. If you have election signs in your yard and are planning to dispose of them, we would be grateful to take those to repurpose for school signage. They can be dropped off at the bus barn. There will be a tub outside that you can put them in. Thank you ahead of time for those that are able to help in this way.
A reminder for our upcoming mental health forum next Tuesday. We had to change locations to accommodate another activity taking place. Tuesday, November 12th from 5-7pm in the Elementary Cafeteria.
Note to our parents of 5th graders (and this should be in their Tuesday folder):
Our 5th graders have been invited to share two of the songs we have been working on in music to the school board and community on Monday, November 11th. Please meet in the music room at 5:15pm. We predict to be done at 5:45pm. Parents and students are more than welcomed to stay for the entire board meeting however we completely understand if you have to move on to other events for the evening.
Message from our PTA: Our elementary staff have their parent teacher conferences at the end of this week. If you are willing and able to help provide them with an evening meal on Thursday, please sign up here:

Now that Halloween has come and gone, there are messages online of "did you know there are 51 days until Christmas?" That is hard to believe but if you get out the calendar and count days, it is true.

Good November morning! We invite the community to join us for a presentation by Bella Traversie. As mentioned below, we invite everyone to attend however a special invite is for our students that are interested in dancing, beading, sewing, and/or the drum and singing. We hope for a fantastic turn out to welcome Bella. The event is this Friday, November 8th from 10-noon in the Bison Center. Lunch will be provided.

Today is the deadline to RSVP for this awesome event.
Thank you to Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Mrs. Thies, and Mrs. Bent for your wonderful donation to the Angel Fund. These funds will be used to purchase hats, gloves and other winter items for our students.

Has anyone else noticed that the temperatures are definitely changing? Just a kind reminder to make sure to send your elementary student to school dressed accordingly. Coat, hat, gloves are good to have and eventually snow pants and snow boots will be good to add. We would like to see all of our students dress warmly however we fully understand that our middle schoolers and high schoolers tend to stick with their shorts and hoody regardless of how much parents tell them to dress warm.
Red Ribbon Week's highlight yesterday was a third grader, fourth grader, and fifth grader having the "privilege" of pie-ing three wonderful adults in our community. Thank you Brianna Cutlip (our school counselor), SRO McMillan, and School Board member Ryan Walz for being such great sports. The kids loved it and you are amazing for your willingness to get a little messy!

We wish a happy and safe Halloween to all of our Bison families.
