Go Bison!

Parents of Juniors and Seniors. This is such a great opportunity for South Dakota students:
For those of you who are new to Build Dakota, we are a full-ride scholarship program for students attending South Dakota’s technical colleges. We partner with businesses across the state to promote job shadowing and career exploration, and those businesses help fund the scholarships. This fall, 630 students began college with over $11 million in scholarship support. We’re excited to share several updates and new resources with you this year!
• New Healthcare Programs- A full list of our approved programs can be found here:

• New Toolkits- these are “best practices” for all of our audiences for participating in our program. Please feel free to share with parents, students or businesses who may have questions and there’s one for high school staff in case you are new to Build Dakota.

• Roadshow Season is Here- We’re once again traveling the state to create awareness of the Build Dakota Scholarship, promote career exploration/job shadowing, and strengthen connections between high schools, businesses, and economic development organizations. We’re grateful to the many schools that have already welcomed us! Our calendar is still being finalized, so if you haven’t submitted a request for a school visit, you can sign up here:

The Hot Springs Intro to Ag and FFA students have been hard at work on range judging this fall. They’re working on plant identification and characteristics as well as learning to calculate carrying capacity for livestock. Taking education outside!

We were graced with the presence of the BHYL cheer team at the board meeting last night. The HSSD welcomes Sharon Romey as our new school board member. Thank you to all four individuals that showed interest to serve our community.

Making apple pie!

A great way to start the week. As I walked down the hallway, you can hear another group singing in music.

Tuesday, our volleyball teams are hosting Mahpiya Luta. Games start at 5:00. Middle school volleyball is home on Thursday against Lead-Deadwood. Our middle school boys end the week on Saturday hosting a football Jamboree starting at 9am.
There are a lot of away activities this week. Parents of those student-athletes: please send us pictures if you attend the competition. We would love to share pictures with the Bison community of our student-athletes competing in golf, football, cross country, and soccer.

High school and middle school picture day is scheduled for Monday the 8th. We had been waiting on picture packets to hand out, and they just showed up late Friday. Picture day will go ahead as planned but the deadline for ordering pictures will be extended to September12th. We will be able to hand out packets on Monday. Parents can still order online at mylifetouch.com with the code EVTTNGQ9G. There are flyers in the high school with the QR code on it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
The Hot Springs School District held a ribbon cutting ceremony today for our preschool program. We wanted to thank our community members that supported our Preschool Campaign and have made full time, free preschool a reality for all Hot Springs School District 3-5 year olds.
